MARTA HOLDS TABLETOP EXERCISE TO PREPARE FOR SUPER BOWL
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) held the first in a series of tabletop exercises on June 21st at the Carter Center to prepare for next year’s Super Bowl.
The entire executive team was present as senior directors from each department of the Authority worked through various scenarios in preparation for the ten days of events leading up to and including the big game in February.
MARTA General Manager & CEO Jeffrey A. Parker and MARTA Police Chief Wanda Y. Dunham encouraged staff to be honest about issues within their departments and open to solutions presented.
Exercise participants dealt with several simulated variables such as severe weather, protests, service disruptions, and station overcrowding.
MARTA will hold additional tabletop exercises and choreographed run-throughs over the next seven months. These exercises will focus on safety and security, managing crowds on train platforms, and communicating clearly to riders, among other things.
Pre-game concerts, fan events, and parties begin Saturday, Jan. 26 with Super Bowl 53 being played on Sunday, Feb. 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
