MARTA HOSTS ANNUAL DUMP THE PUMP SCAVENGER HUNT
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) recently hosted its sixth annual Dump the Pump scavenger hunt to encourage people to dump the gas pump and ride MARTA.
Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), National Dump the Pump Day was designed to promote the use of public transportation instead of driving. Started in June 2006 when gas prices rose to $3 per gallon, this day emphasizes the convenience and affordability of public transit. The event also strives to highlight how public transportation can help communities grow and prosper.
For the past six years, MARTA has held a kick-off event to Dump the Pump Day, which is on Thursday, June 21 this year. The scavenger hunt is a great way for people to learn the system as they navigate the rail cars and stations for items listed in their hunt booklets. The event also shows riders how easily they can visit Atlanta landmarks while riding MARTA.
MARTA had a great turnout for the event and a total of five team winners. Congratulations to Ain’t No Charter Bus for winning first place! Each team member received a gift card for $425. Outfront Media supplied the team prizes.
