MARTA BRIGHTENS HOLIDAY FOR THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will distribute holiday gifts to over 3,000 children on Wednesday, Dec. 20 in the first-floor atrium at MARTA headquarters.
Through its Charity Club, MARTA employees and ATU Local 732 raised more than $65,000 to provide presents to children whose families previously signed up for the giveaway. This 30-year tradition is an unforgettable experience for families in need of assistance.
MARTA Interim GM/CEO Elizabeth O’Neill will join Charity Club Chair Linda James and Executive Director Warren McMichael as they open the holiday gift shop to pre-registered families of children, age 2 to 10. The toys are brand-new and include trucks, dolls, games, tablets, and bicycles. Lots of bicycles.
“We are a family at MARTA and this is like Christmas morning for us” said MARTA Interim GM/CEO Elizabeth O’Neill. “This is a wonderful tradition and we are looking forward to welcoming these families and their children into our MARTA home to celebrate the holidays together.”
