Place, race and poverty in Atlanta
We recently saw that same map come into play again during our mayoral election and runoff. There was great deal of conversation around important issues but there was also a deep conversation happening around race in our city. Now that those issues have been raised, what are we going to do about it? Are we going to work as a collective to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to provide for their families? Are we going to work to ensure that every child has access to a good education so that they can be lifted out of poverty? Are we going to work together to focus on housing choice and affordability for all? Are we going to improve our transportation system not just so that people can get to their favorite restaurant but to also get to a job that is close to where they live so that they don’t have to take the train and two buses all wile trying to get their children to daycare and get to work on time?
