Pack Purses with United Way on January 12!

Forget diamonds, a purse is a girl’s best friend! Whether it’s a clutch or over the shoulder, most of us have our favorite purse packed with all the essentials to get us through the day.

Women in Greater Atlanta are balancing all aspects of life every day – relationships, work, parenthood, and education. How often do we think about how they balance all of these things, knowing that not every woman has what she needs to thrive? Rarely, right? We often consider thinking about what is not being done, and what needs to be done in order for those around her to have needs met. Although women are major providers and contributors to our homes and our lives, it is important that we also create spaces and remind women of their strength, take moments to restore their hope, and surround them as often as we can with peace.

United Way of Greater Atlanta met Brittany Bankston, a proud wife and mother of two beautiful children, during her participation in the United Way Future Leadership Program. While in this program, Brittany created a non-profit organization called Prestigious Purse; an organization focused on supporting homeless & battered women who are in need of support in the community. Brittany centers this support speaking as an advocate and gifting women around the city—you guessed it—with a purse!

In support of Brittany’s efforts, United Way of Greater Atlanta will be hosting a Pack the Purse Party on Thursday, January 12 beginning at 11:00 am. Pack the Purse is a purse driving effort to support the United Way of Greater Atlanta Making Our Moms Successful program (MOMS), and program recipient Brittany Bankston’s nonprofit organization Prestigious Purse Inc.

At the first Annual Pack the Purse Party we will bring the community together to pack over 250 purses with essential care items that will be distributed to recipients of the M.O.M.S. program.

Can’t join us at the event? We are accepting purse donations! Please bring your new or gently worn purse to donate on the day of the event. If you will not be able to attend the event, and would like to drop off items, please e-mail
